The Benefits of Building Your Own Exercise Program
Depending on your health goals, you may need to customize
your exercise program to better suit you and your lifestyle. While this can
take some extra effort, it will be well worth it in the long run because you’ll
be more likely to stick to it! Here are some of the benefits of building your
own exercise program.
Know Yourself
You know your body best, so a customized workout plan is the
most effective. Plus, you won't dread going to the gym as much if you're only
doing exercises that suit you.
Put Together a Plan
1. Choose an activity you enjoy and that fits your needs
2. Write down how often you'll be exercising
3. Write out a plan for each day, week, month, and year
4. Make sure to include the necessary supplies and equipment
so you don't end up wasting time or money
5. Choose a realistic goal for yourself (e.g., lose 5 lbs)
6. Track your progress!
Commit Yourself
Building your own exercise program is a smart idea because
you know what you need to do and get the most out of it. All too often, people
pick up programs that they don't like, or don't meet their needs. But with a
program you design yourself, you have full control over what happens. If
something isn't working for you, change it! There are so many benefits to
crafting your own exercise program: better results faster, less likelihood of
injury and more fun!
Track Progress
If you're looking to lose weight, gain muscle, or anything
in between, the best way to do so is by creating your own exercise program. It
doesn't need to be complicated or take up a lot of time-just think about what
you want and follow these guidelines for success:
-Set short-term goals (at least four) and long-term goals
(one year)
-Come up with a plan that includes exercises that work with
your schedule, as well as what days you are planning on working out
-Find an exercise buddy who has similar goals for motivation
-Create a playlist with motivating music
Once you find a routine that works for you, stick to it!
Focus on Why You Started Exercising in the First Place
I started exercising because I was getting frustrated with
my body, and it seemed like a good idea to try something new. But now that I've
been at it for a while, I realize that it's actually had some really positive
effects on my life. For starters, the new routine has helped me get more
organized and motivated in other areas of my life too, which is awesome! I feel
like all my thoughts are more clear and focused when I'm working out too. It's
not just about feeling physically better (though that's an amazing
side-effect), it's also about being mentally healthier too. When you start
taking care of your body by doing things like eating right and staying active,
you're also taking care of your mind as well.
